Romal Capital & Maro Unite to Unlock Brunswick Dock
We’re excited to share a major step forward for the future of Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
Romal Capital, in partnership with Maro, has officially submitted a planning application to Liverpool City Council to bring Brunswick Dock back to life — transforming this long-underused site into a vibrant, mixed-use waterfront neighbourhood.
A Bold Vision, Backed by Delivery
Brunswick Dock has stood still for over 70 years. Once a key hub for global trade, the dock opened in 1832 and played a vital role in the city’s growth. Today, it’s ready for a new chapter.
The new proposal — a joint effort between Romal Capital and Maro — brings fresh energy and deliverability to a site that has seen previous plans approved but never realised. Maro, the site’s original landowner, had gained approval in 2020 for a 552-home scheme, but the development did not progress.
Now, with Romal onboard as development partner, the vision has momentum — and a proven track record.
“Bringing life back to a dock that helped build Britain’s global trade story is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Greg Malouf, CEO of Romal Capital. “Together with Maro, we’re creating something extraordinary on one of the UK’s most iconic waterfronts.”
What’s Planned at Brunswick Dock?
560 new waterfront homes — designed with oversized layouts, balconies and winter gardens
The 1832 Farmers Market — a vibrant, open-air community space celebrating local producers and Liverpool’s trading heritage
Public access to dock waters — opening up the marina for paddleboarding, recreation, and leisure
Extensive green spaces and gardens — for residents and the public to enjoy
Upgraded walkways and cycle links — connecting Liverpool Marina with the city centre and wider Mersey waterfront
Cafés, wellness spaces, and active frontages — designed to create a thriving, walkable neighbourhood
A Catalyst for the Southern Waterfront
This project marks the final major regeneration opportunity on the city’s southern docklands — and the chance to complete the waterfront’s revival from north to south.
The partnership between Romal and Maro strengthens the vision for Brunswick Dock and brings certainty to its delivery. Romal has already completed over 370 high-quality homes across the Liverpool docklands, with another 191 currently under construction, and has helped reconnect areas of the city closed off for generations.
“This is about respecting Liverpool’s incredible history while building a vibrant, sustainable future,” added Malouf. “Together, we’re creating a neighbourhood that people will love to live in, visit, and be proud of.”
More Than a Development — A Community
Our approach is rooted in placemaking. From infrastructure to interiors, Romal’s developments are about creating homes with soul and spaces that bring people together.
We’re proud to be part of this next chapter for Brunswick Dock, and even prouder to do it with partners who share our vision for Liverpool.
